The
Seychelles Investment Bureau is publishing for the second
time since its creation the Seychelles Business Directory,
a tool that has facilitated communications for development
of trade and investments over the past year.
This
second edition provides a much broader list of business
activities operating in Seychelles, as business operators
understand the need to promote and market their activities.
Connecting our domestic companies to the global market
is of paramount importance for SIB in order to trigger
vertical integration and the development of supply chains,
an important element in the economic development of
our country. The extent and speed with which innovations
in one country cross borders through exchanges of goods,
capital and ideas is unprecedented and our local investors
have to be prepared to take up the challenges.
Seychelles
has also reached an important milestone in its development
with increasing interest from Foreign Direct Investment
and local enterprises and local investors should grasp
the opportunities to establish closer linkages with
foreign investors in order to benefit from the diffusion
of new technologies, human resource and management expertise.
To
guarantee the success of these linkages, the Government
endeavours that the establishment of SIB as a 'one stop
shop' will not only provide investors with easier access
to information on the necessary steps to start or expand
their businesses and act as the main interlocutor between
the Government and the investors; but investors will
also be
able to access information on the legal and regulatory
matters; on financing options; location choice; recruitment
and training; promote linkages between foreign affiliates
and local enterprises; and provide investors with periodical
information on the various investment opportunities
in Seychelles.
I
therefore encourage our local enterprises to keep abreast
of new developments in all sectors of our economy and
to make the most of the opportunities arising from these
developments.
