The Turkey-Africa Economic and Business Forum was held in Istanbul, Turkey between 10th and 11th October 2018.
This forum was organised by the African Union Commission, Turkey’s Ministry of Trade and the Foreign Economic Relations Board (DEIK), and ran for the second time since 2016.
The aim of the gathering was to promote cooperation opportunities between African countries and Turkey, and create a B2B and B2G platform for government, investors, private sector and financial institutions from Africa and Turkey. It was attended by high-level representatives from 42 African countries, 5 African Regional Organisations, and over 3000 delegates from Turkey and Africa.
Seychelles was represented by SIB Senior Investment Analyst Jeanette Lesperance, members of the Seychelles Chamber of Commerce & Industry (SCCI), as well as the Seychelles Trading Company (STC).
During the opening ceremony, Senegal and Zimbabwe signed agreements with Turkish Government, along with the African Union MOU.
The programme for the forum included presentations from different countries, panel discussions and B2B meetings with various companies and government from both Turkey and African countries.
